You may notice, in this case, that they are choosing to stay in the dark or to keep the lights on all the time. They might believe that they see shadows, people coming out of the floor or even insects or snakes. People with psychosis might see things that aren’t visible to others. They may turn their heads or look around as if responding to a voice. When they are hearing voices, they will often seem to be distracted and won’t be focussing on what you’re saying to them. These voices can be disturbing and confusing. They may hear voices telling them to do things, murmuring, commenting on what they are doing and/or saying bad things about them. When they hear things that others do not hear, they are experiencing auditory hallucinations. One of the clearest signs of psychosis is when people have hallucinations.
